![]() ![]() I got the NBT controller to work without any adapters/emulators on a 2011 (08/10 build). I have been working with this retrofit for a couple months and couldn't find direct information on how to get it to work for the CIC equipped vehicles so I thought I'd share my experience. If after so go ahead and install ne controllers without any problems))) Till second part of 2012 year CIC system was installed on F10 modelse so if you have F10 before 2012 second half see my post upper. Regarding F10 model is same, depend of manufacturer year. In case of CIC which works on can1 interface you need to retrofit to be installed. HU_ENTRY it is a simple version of NBT system for small screen and also works on can2 interface so it is same like with NBT thats why it is working without any retrofits. Will this device work on an F10? I know the controller uses KCAN and not BODY_CAN. After seeing your post, it looks like this can work. I've had a few people ask me about whether or not it would work on a F10 if they tap into CAS and grab the KCAN2 signal from there but I'm not 100% sure as I don't know if they gateway will recognize the touch controller as a valid device. I've plugged a touch controller into a 2014 F30 with HU_ENTRY and it still worked as a controller since it also communicates on KCAN2. You don't necessarily need NBT for the touch controller to work. I have 2009 530i E60 with CIC system with installed NBT iDrive with big ceramic knob. It is wery isy procedure to instal it.Ĭheck photos and you will get what i am talking about. Enother word adapter help CIC system to understand NBT device signal. The device i talkoing about retranslating can2 signal to can1 so your car can comunicate with NBT iDrive. If you have CIC so you should add spesial device between iDrive controller and head unit as CIC working on can1 digital signal and NBT iDrive on can2. If you have NBT thats not nessesary to install any retrofit adaptor to your car. With all of the electronics in our vehicles, the system has to boot up and when it doesn't boot up correctly.hence the orange screen. When the screen goes black, you can reset it by pushing down on the tuning knob on the radio and hold it down for 30 seconds and it will reboot and function normally.Works for me.What system you have on your car? NBT or CIC? One of our forum brothers says to look at it as a computer. Dealer completed a software upgrade and it did it again. This has been discussed before, here and in other forums. Thinking about going to BMW tomorrow and see what they say. Park at the store, do my thing and come out 5 minutes later.Įverything is fine, screen comes up as if nothing has happened, have two other stops on my round and no problem what so ever.Īnyone else seen this, should I consider it a computer glitch, or a sign of something to come? ![]() Radio and phone streaming is working, so it appears just the screen is dead.Īs I drive to the shop I'm going to I start cursing this thing and start to imagine my conversation with BMW tomorrow, thankfully my car is under warranty so any fix will not cost me anything, but it means I will be without a car while they fix it, or in a loaner. I press the start button to shut down the car, open/close the door, lock the car, wait 10 sec, unlock the car, start the car, idrive screen still dead. Just about to take the picture and the screen goes ad. I go WTF!!!!, music starts playing and everything is fine, pull out my phone to snap a picture, disconnect phone to get a better angle as my cable is short. Unlocked my car and got in, pushed the start button without starting the engine.Ĭonnected my iPhone to the center armrest and notice that the idrive screen is bright orange.
